Former Patriots player Tedy Bruschi recovering from stroke

Bruschi, 46, suffered a stroke Thursday afternoon, according to a statement from his foundation, Tedy's Team, on behalf of his family.

"You know, you think about Tedy Bruschi as a guy who is in awesome shape and you don't even really think about you know, insane stuff like that when you see somebody who just ran a marathon and having to deal with a second one", Former Patriots tight end Jermaine Wiggins said.

'Often called a ministroke, a transient ischemic attack may be a warning, ' reads the article on the May Clinic website. "Tedy and his family thank you for your ongoing encouragement, and kindly ask for your privacy at this time". "Since it doesn't cause permanent damage, it's often ignored", the ASA writes. He played 13 years for the Patriots, making one Pro Bowl and winning three Super Bowls.

Bruschi joined ESPN as an analyst shortly after his retirement.

The Patriots selected Bruschi in the third round (No. 86 overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft out of Arizona.

Since that year, he has been a vocal advocate for stroke awareness and prevention.

Bruschi spent his entire career with New England and is known for being a great teammate and mentor. He has run the Boston Marathon three times, including in 2019.

'I trained for eight-second bursts for decades, so I didn't know what I was doing my first couple of times.

Later he became a defensive captain and ultimately retired in 2008, interestingly enough, without ever hiring an agent.
