Which team will India face in Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-final?

Pakistan need to beat Bangladesh on Friday by 316 runs at Lord's to overtake New Zealand on net run rate and even Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is not convinced it's achievable.

If they lose the toss or by any chance if Bangladesh gets to bat first, then, Pakistan will be losing their chance straight away. Australia will then play against England in the second semi-final at Edgbaston.

Since his century against Pakistan a month ago, Buttler's batting has gone off the boil but the wicket-keeper contributed to England's win over New Zealand with a brilliant diving catch to dismiss Martin Guptill.

Well, Pakistan has always been one of those teams, who stays in the chat of the experts and the fans. The senior cricketer needs to stand tall and deliver in their last encounter of the World Cup campaign and finish with a high. Captain Sarfraz Ahmed said they would try to give 500 runs target to Bangladesh.

They have been left thankful for the way their fixtures played out in the group stage with comfortable early victories against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, alongside a nervy chase against Bangladesh, giving them breathing space plus the benefit of a point from a washed out match against India which would have been one of their tougher matches.

Now placed fifth with nine points from eight matches, Pakistan face the challenge of beating Bangladesh by 311 runs after posting 350 or by 316 runs after scoring 400, something which is practically impossible. The two semi-finals will be played in Manchester and Edgbaston and Lord's will host the final of the quadrennial tournament.

The top team plays the fourth team through to the semis, which is most likely to be New Zealand, unless Pakistan manage a near-impossible score against Bangladesh.

Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur's contract expires after the World Cup and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that it will review the performance of the coaching staff after the conclusion of the tournament.

But all these three scenarios look highly improbable and we can safely assume that Pakistan will not make it to the semis.

"But cricket is a harsh game and we all know that you're not going to be ideal every day".

"I think we do have to tap in to what we have done these last two games", he added.

"I don't think it will affect the team too much, particularly knowing some of the guys well".

Now placed seventh, Bangladesh have been impressive in their wins against South Africa, Afghanistan and West Indies.

"The one thing about Mashrafe with the players is that they respect him incredibly", said Rhodes of Mashrafe, who has announced this will be his last World Cup.
