For the second time in four days a Wimbledon champion called Williams found herself being whipped by high school teenager but in the end it was Serena Williams dishing out the punishment as she stormed to a 2-6 6-2 6-4 second-round win over Slovenia's Kaja Juvan on Thursday.

Serena also attended Meghan and Harry's wedding and organised her baby shower in NY earlier this year.

The outfit constituted more of Meghan's pre-royal signature style, and was completed by her trademark messy bun.

Meghan was accompanied by two old university friends with, Lindsey Roth and Genevieve Hills.

While there was no sign of Prince William or their baby son Archie, Meghan was spotted wearing a necklace with an "A" pendant.

Williams lost the first set but won the final two sets to progress to the next round. after having an injury interrupted lead up to Wimbledon.

There has been speculation that Williams could be a godparent to Archie, as Meghan and Williams have become close over the years. "I am a fighter I never give up".

Asked if she might be one day doing the same with Archie, Williams said: "I'm actually working on Olympia's game".

Earlier Swiss great Roger Federer revealed he had recently had a tennis knockabout with Archie's cousin Prince George. "Actually she likes soccer more, so we'll see".

The Duchess of Cambridge made her first appearance at Wimbledon 2019 on Tuesday.

Kate enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour at the championships and made the rare move of watching part of Briton Harriet Dart's match on an outside court.
