LG launches the G8S ThinQ, a more affordable version of its flagship

During Mobile World Congress, LG didn't offer details on when the "S" model might be available, but the company has now said it will be coming to select markets in Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East starting in July. Out of which there is a 12-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. This is enabled by use of the ToF (time of flight) Z Camera and infrared sensors, enabling users to hover their hand over the display to unlock their smartphones.

Apart from this, LG G8s ThinQ features a triple rear camera setup at the back. The G8S ThinQ will decidedly be cheaper than the beefier LG G8, which is the reason why it has skimped on some of the high-end features of the premium phone. The display gets a tad larger at 6.2-inches, but the resolution goes down to FHD+ at 2248 x 1080 pixels, while remaining an OLED panel with 18.7:9 aspect ratio.

Samsung CEO Admits To Have Launched Galaxy Fold Before Time
The Galaxy Fold starts at almost $2,000, making it one of the most expensive phones ever released by the company. In the year 2012, Samsung had launched the Galaxy Beam smartphone which came with an in-built pico projector.

The company has brought some AI features in the phone as well. LG claims that this is the widest field of view offered in the market and gives the phone continuous zoom capability without any color distortion or lag. Moreover, LG G8s ThinQ is powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. There's also a bokeh effect and stabilization enhancement which can be added to videos. The ToF module is also used for Air Motion gestures, which let you perform various actions without touching the screen. The price hasn't been announced. The phone is equipped with stereo speakers, AI Cam, Google Les support, IP68 water and dust resistance, MIL-STD 810G compliance, and more. The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie OS with custom LG skin on top. Available in three colour options - Mirror Black, Mirror Teal, and Mirror White - the LG G8s measures at 55.3x76.6x7.99mm, and weighs 181 grams.
