Guardiola's possible return to Barcelona will be something Messi would celebrate, but whether the 33-year-old will still be at the club by 2021 remains to be seen.

The Manchester City boss, 48, enjoyed a monumental season as his side captured a historic domestic treble. The 48-year old has been a Champions League victor twice in his four-year spell at Barcelona and also won the La Liga on three occasions.

During the first leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals 2017/18, Liverpool scored three goals within 19 minutes to drift the tie away from the Citizens' hands.

Guardiola has been criticised quite regularly for not winning a Champions League since leaving Barcelona, but it's not something that gets him too down.

"Winning the Premier League is very hard, and I speak from experience", Guardiola told Catalan newspaper Ara.

Guardiola has coached in three of Europe's top five major leagues so far, managing Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City in a glowing career.

The 2018-19 season was his best year till date, as he finished his campaign with 54 appearances, 30 goals and 11 assists. But Madrid's chances were boosted recently when Pogba admitted he felt it could be time for a new challenge.

"Part of the greatness of the Champions League is that it is not every Sunday", said Guardiola. "Working at home [in Spain], it is hard because the emotions fly so high and the press conferences are more difficult".

"But I'm convinced the Barca players knew that Anfield is Anfield".

"I will return to Barcelona sooner or later". It is an interesting story by Hleb given the fact that big name players have left the back door of Barcelona quietly shuffled on in the past- Romario and Rivaldo before Ronaldinho as an example.

"I extended my contract because we have a young team, I have everything I desire to do my job. Well, he is great, nobody doubts it".

Many suggested that the two clubs would happily swap their successes, with the Merseyside outfit's wait for a league title stretching into its 30th year while Man City have won the league four times this decade but have never progressed past the semi-finals of the European Cup, watching their rivals make back-to-back finals. "If they had reached the Champions League final, they would have won".
