Klay Thompson Has Officially Announced His Free Agency Decision

Klay Thompson isn't going anywhere after signing a new 5-year, $190 million deal with the Golden State Warriors shortly after National Basketball Association free agency began.

It's largely been known for days what Klay Thompson would decide to do when National Basketball Association free agency opened on Sunday.

Thompson has averaged 19.5 points and 3.5 rebounds over his career.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers said last week he planned to sit down with Thompson before the start of free agency Sunday, when Golden State saw Kevin Durant depart for the Brooklyn Nets. However, his playoff run was abruptly ended during the NBA Finals when he tore his ACL on a foul. The 5-7-month timetable after today's surgery has the three-time National Basketball Association champion on pace to return anywhere between December and February. The 29-year-old was always believed to be willing to return if he was offered a max deal, though he supposedly would have met with the Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers if Golden State opted against it.

Nikola Mirotic Agrees To Deal With Barcelona
The 28-year-old Mirotic will play for Barcelona in the EuroLeague, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic . Still, Mirotic had entered the summer as an intriguing fit for many teams, thanks to his elite shooting ability as a big man.

Thompson is expected to miss most, if not all, of next season. On Jan. 23, 2015, Thompson scored 37 points in a quarter, making all 13 of his shots in the spectacular shooting performance against the Kings.

Thompson has long voiced his desire to stick with Golden State long-term.

Thompson's maximum contract is for five years and worth $190 million, his agent said.
