Former NFL QB Shot Multiple Times After Argument With GF's Ex-Boyfriend

Officers found Wright, who hails from Vanceboro, with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the New York Post, "According to police, Wright and his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend had a verbal spat that escalated when the man came to drop off his daughter".

Police say they were called to the scene on Middlecrest Drive NW just before 12.50pm home after shots were fired.

Wright is said to be in stable condition, according to a statement made by the Concord Police Department to the Independent Tribune. They rushed him to a hospital for emergency surgery, the release said. He is listed in stable condition.

Wright, a former University of SC quarterback, played eight seasons in the National Football League and won a Super Bowl in 2008 with the New York Giants, WHIO reports.

Wright was undrafted out of SC in 1999 after finishing as the No. 3 passer in program history with 5,641 yards and 38 touchdowns. Wright completed 164 of 266 passes for a career-best 1,582 yards and six touchdowns with nine interceptions that season.

He helped lead the 2003 Ravens to the playoffs, going 5-2 as a starter down the stretch, and was the third-string QB for the 2007 Giants Super Bowl team. He played in 31 games with 19 starts for the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants.
