Russian Federation hails Sunday’s Trump-Kim meeting, says foreign ministry

That said the American president Donald Trump on Sunday, after he had been in conversation with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for more than 45 minutes in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the two Korea's.

Earlier Monday, South Korea's government said it hoped the diplomatic momentum created by the latest Trump-Kim meeting would help revive inter-Korean dialogue and engagement that stopped amid an impasse in nuclear negotiations between Washington and Pyongyang.

Yes, actually. After US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met at the DMZ, South Korea scrambled jets to intercept an "unidentified object", which turned out to be a flock of birds. Trump travelled to the demilitarized zone with South Korean President Moon Jae-In and met with troops stationed there before meeting Kim at a marker delineating the border between the two states. U.S. officials say they want to lay more groundwork before another full-fledged summit, although they acknowledge that mid-level North Korean officials have little room to negotiate on Kim's cherished nuclear program. The North Korean leader then invited Trump to cross into his country.

Scott Snyder, a senior fellow for Korea Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, said both Kim and Trump had a lot to gain by meeting at the border.

Sri Lanka holds off West Indies for third win
Meanwhile, Avishka Fernando's maiden ODI century helped Sri Lanka post 338/6 against the West Indies at the World Cup on Monday. Earlier, Fernando smashed his first one-day global century as Sri Lanka scored an imposing 338-6 in the first innings.

But despite the historic meetings, as Richardson said, Kim has done little more than make vague promises that he will denuclearize. At the Hanoi summit held in February, the USA conditioned North Korea's request for sanctions relief on Pyongyang taking steps toward full denuclearization.

North Korea's concept of denuclearization has been to remove the USA nuclear umbrella over the Korean Peninsula while the US defines it as dismantling North Korea's nuclear weapons and facilities. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters as he flew back that the talks will start 'probably around the middle of the month.

Carlson has always been a vocal defender of the Trump administration amid criticism from those who have accused the president of merely seeking a good photo opportunity, and he was effusive in his praise during the call on Sunday.

"I read this NYT story with curiosity", Bolton said in a tweet. "Our goal remains the final, fully verified denuclearisation of North Korea".
