Tottenham agree €72m deal with Lyon for Tanguy Ndombele

Spurs have agreed a fee with Lyon for the midfielder and will splash out a record £55m plus a further £9m in add-ons.

The north London side finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to continue their record of finishing in the Champions League places under Mauricio Pochettino.

Just a few days ago, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed the club had rejected Tottenham's initial bid of €45m (£40m) and had threatened to raise their asking price to €80m (£72m) if a deal wasn't done by Saturday, 6 July.

Ndombele could be joined by Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes and Arsenal transfer target William Saliba in the coming weeks. The 22-year-old France global has been given a tour of the Spurs training ground, which left him greatly impressed, and he has been convinced by Pochettino that the next phase of his career will be best served in north London.

The Spurs project does work for the player and much of the deal has already been spoken about but there are still some details to be sorted. The bonuses are understood to be easily attainable and relate to Spurs qualifying for the Champions' League on multiple occasions.

Delom suggests that Manchester United could still swoop in with a "surprise" move for Ndombele though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been strongly linked with Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes. The Brazilian winger signed in January 2018 from PSG and they've not signed anyone since. It also means that they will now beat Real Madrid to his signing, this summer.

Ndombele went through France's lower leagues before making it to the top.

Will Spurs finally make a signing or will someone else come in for Ndombele?
