India's Shankar out of #CricketWorldCup with fractured toe

Karnataka batsman Mayank Agarwal is likely to be roped in as a replacement in the 15-man Indian squad, said ANI. Opener Shikar Dhawan was out of the tournament and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar already missed a few games.

Shankar was hit on the foot by a yorker from paceman Jasprit Bumrah during a training session and was not in the team for India´s defeat to England at Edgbaston on Sunday. Rishabh Pant drafted into the side as his replacement. The condition will require a minimum of three weeks to heal. "He is going back home", a senior BCCI official was quoted by PTI who shared about the situation of Vijay Shankar. Vijay Shankar, however, failed to impress with his performance, despite getting chances several times. He had a prolific run in England with the India A squad previous year, scoring 287 runs in four one-day innings at an average of 71.75 and strike rate of 105.90. While now Rishabh Pant has finally made the score at the 4th position against England.

And now he is set to join Virat Kohli and Co in England for the latter stages of the World Cup.

Also, Agarwal has never played for India in limited-overs cricket.

Wilfried Zaha pleads with Crystal Palace to allow Arsenal move
It has now been confirmed by SkySports and David Ornstein that Arsenal have made a £40 Million bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

Indian fans will remember Mayank Agarwal from the IPL too, where he featured most recently for Kings XI Punjab.

In fact, Mayank Agarwal had a miraculous domestic season where he scored a truckload of runs. He had a prolific run in England with the India A squad a year ago, where he made 287 runs in four one-day innings at an average of 71.75 and strike rate of 105.90.

Mayank, a top-order batsman, has played two Tests but is yet to play an ODI. It was deemed to be an external injury and he eventually returned to open the batting and was dismissed for a nine-ball duck. Bangar indicated that Rahul was fit, but having a third opener in Agarwal might be a precautionary measure.
