Tigers take 7-game skid into matchup with Nationals

Jeimer Candelario and Harold Castro each went 2 for 4 while Nick Castellanos had a double to cap off Detroit's offense in the win.

Following the Detroit Tigers loss to the Washington Nationals on Friday night, they announced they have optioned outfielder Victor Reyes to Triple A Toledo. I don't even think the Nationals bullpen can screw this one up. To add insult to injury, two former Tigers played a big role in the victory for the Nationals.

The Nationals are 4-1in their last five road games. The ejection, which came after a close call on the previous Soto pitch that would have ended the inning, if it were called a strike, was Gardenhire's seventh of the season. Last outing: Allowed four runs on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings of a no-decision, home loss vs. the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.

"That was something I really, really appreciated", Soto said about the ejection, through a translator.

"Anytime you give them two free bases, you're putting yourself in a awful situation", Rainey said.

As the melee continued outside the stadium, journalists trying to film the scenes were also assaulted. But Pakistani innings collapsed further from 121-3 to 156-6 as Afghan spinners applied pressure.

The Nationals have won four straight and at 41-40 moved above.500 for the first time since they were 9-8 on April 18. Anibal Sanchez earned his fourth victory and Soto went 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI for Washington. The Tigers are last in the major leagues with 266 runs scored.

Washington Nationals' Juan Soto (22) is congratulated by pitching coach Paul Menhart after hitting a solo home run against the Detroit Tigers during the second inning of a baseball game, Friday, June 28, 2019, in Detroit.
