Minnesota Weather: Severe Storms Roll Into Southwestern Minnesota

Environment Canada issues another severe thunderstorm watch for many communities in northeastern Ontario.

The National Storm Prediction Center has the Chicago area under a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms today (a 15% chance of severe storms within 25 miles of a given location).

A line of strong thunderstorms has moved from north to south across the CBS 58 viewing area Friday morning.

Environment Canada says that lightning kills and injures Canadians every year, so "when thunder roars, go indoors".

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Thunderstorms are expected to rumble across Minnesota on Thursday, threatening to lash communities with hail, heavy rain and damaging winds.

These storms could produce wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, as well as large hail and frequent lightning. The watch also applies to nine Wisconsin counties: Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce and St. Croix.

Storms are expected to reached northern MA between noon and 2 p.m., rolling southeast until they move off the coast around 8 p.m., the NWS said. Wind and hail would be the main threats with these.
