Craig Kimbrel dodged trouble for a save in his season debut when new teammate Anthony Rizzo dived into first base for the final out, and the Chicago Cubs rallied from five runs down to beat the Atlanta Braves 9-7 on Thursday.

Chicago inked him to a three-year, $43-million pact earlier this month. Astros starter Brad Peacock (6-6) was roughed up for six runs on seven hits in three innings as Houston lost for the ninth time in its last 11 games.

Atlanta scored two more times in the fourth on Swanson's two-run single for a 6-1 lead. White Sox 8, Red Sox 7 Jose Abreu hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning, and Chicago avoided a three-game sweep by winning at Boston.
