Trump hails Korean demilitarised zone as a 'real border'

He said that Kim sent him "a very lovely birthday card", and he believed he got his reply back "because it's in the newspapers".

Nor has Washington offered any relief from the severe sanctions against North Korea imposed by the United Nations at USA urging. We'll see each other for two minutes.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo raised hopes for a revival of talks after the letters, while Xi told Moon on Thursday that Kim's resolve for denuclearisation and dialogue remained unchanged.

A U.S. special envoy has said the United States is ready to hold constructive talks with North Korea to follow through on a denuclearisation agreement reached by the two countries a year ago. But those meetings were planned well in advance, preceded by lower-level talks between U.S. and North Korean officials.

Talks on eliminating the North's nuclear arsenal have been stalled after the second summit between Trump and Kim collapsed due to major differences over the scope of its denuclearization and potential sanctions relief by the United States.
