Kawhi Will Meet With The Clippers And Lakers After Free Agency Opens

One of Ujiri's most pressing tasks now will be to retain the services of NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Kawhi Leonard, who is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent.

There's still no clear sign on whether Kawhi Leonard will choose to return to Toronto or find another team to play for.

A new report indicates the extent to which he'll do that, as Leonard will take a pair of meetings when free agency opens on June 30. I think his decision will be staying with the Raptors, likely on a short deal, a one-plus-one deal. That trade gives Los Angeles enough cap space to pursue a max free agent in free agency.

Woj and Lowe on the Kawhi Leonard race - "Toronto, the Clippers, and I think they've kept their eye on the #Lakers..."

It's also possible he could work out a short-term deal with the Raptors and test free agency again down the road. Seemingly choosing between the Raptors, Lakers, and Clippers, nobody has much of a read on just what Kawhi plans to do.

Sergio AGUERO talks Argentina vs. Brazil at the Copa America
Sergio AGUERO has been a regular starter for coach Lionel SCALONI at the Copa America and brings a lot of experience to the team. Argentina have released a strong starting XI that will tackle Venezuela in tonight's 2019 Copa America quarter-final fixture.

"I thought he was going to be the person that could fit (with the Clippers) seamlessly", he said. Leonard was an easy choice as NBA Finals MVP.

As for celebrating the National Basketball Association title with political leaders, Ujiri says the team has yet to decide on a White House visit if invited.

This self-assurance Webster conveyed appears to come from the fact the Raptors traded for Leonard almost a year ago to the date and that both sides have now become quite familiar with one another.

As he reflected on the way Leonard was embraced by the city and the team, Ujiri made sure on Tuesday to hark back to DeRozan - the player cast off in the trade. In lieu of approaching the superstar and swarming him for photos and autographs at Toronto's hot spots, Tory and Bhatia pleaded with fans to sign a petition on their newly launched website KawhiUShouldStay.com.

But Leonard is staying out of the spotlight for now.
