France coach admits ‘failure’ as hosts go out of World Cup

Rapinoe turned turmoil into triumph Friday, scoring twice in the much-anticipated clash with host France to send the defending champion United States into the semifinals of the Women's World Cup with a 2-1 victory.

With the win, the US women's team will advance to the semifinals. We're not going to be invited.

The English can cause the U.S. plenty of problems, and the match in Lyon has all the ingredients of a highly entertaining affair.

"She's a big personality both on and off the pitch and I think she honestly thrives in these moments".

"In regards to the "President's" tweet today, I know women who you can not control or grope anger you", Krieger said on Twitter, "but I stand by [Megan Rapinoe] & will sit this one out as well".

"Women's soccer player, Megan Rapinoe just stated that she is "not going to the White House if we win".

Alex Morgan told Time Magazine last month that she would not visit the White House if the us team was invited. "I haven't seen many pretty games in a World Cup", said Ellis.

"I don't support this administration nor their fight against LGBTQ+ citizens, immigrants & our most vulnerable", Krieger posted.

MI baseball, back in the visitors dugout at TD Ameritrade Park, wearing their road navy uniforms, had scored first again. Vanderbilt took the lead for good in the third when MI starter Karl Kauffmann issued a bases-loaded walk with two outs.

Rapinoe expressed similar sentiments about any potential White House visit earlier this year, as did teammate Alex Morgan.

After Rapinoe's video surfaced earlier in the week, President Trump tweeted: "Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team".

Even before referee Kateryna Monzul had blown her whistle to start the match, United States captain Morgan had raised eyebrows by not singing the national anthem. The U.S. barely hung on but came away with one of the most significant victories in its recent history.

In both cases in 2016 - for games in Columbus, Ohio, and Atlanta - Rapinoe was a substitute on the sideline when the national anthem was played. It was the 181cm defender's fourth World Cup goal and gave the home crowd at the sellout Parc des Princes hope.

President Trump responded to Rapinoe's feedback on Twitter saying "I'm a mountainous fan of the American Crew, and Women's Soccer, nonetheless Megan could collected WIN first sooner than she TALKS! The Americans are 3-3-2 against the French in the last eight games in the series.

The Lionesses are real contenders, and are highly motivated to avoid a third successive World Cup semifinal exit.

"For me, [games like] these are why you play all these friendlies a thousand times and are training on your own for hours and hours and grind through the rest of it", Rapinoe said.

"We're very open with each other, obviously everyone knows who I am".
