Raptors have been invited to Ottawa by PM Trudeau, says Nick Nurse

"If they'd like to do it, we'll think about that", Trump told reporters during an Oval Office meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

After the meeting, Trudeau said he and Trump had an extended conversation about how China has detained two Canadians in retaliation for the arrest of the Huawei executive.

American authorities are hunting for Ms Meng's extradition on suspicion of fraud and breaching U.S. sanctions on Iran.

Scotty Greenwood, the chief executive of the Washington-based Canadian American Business Council, said the American path to ratifying USCMA in Congress will likely be part of a "grand bargain" between Republicans and Democrats - one she suggested that Trudeau could be useful with, notwithstanding his stated desire Thursday to stay out of internal US politics. Iran's Revolutionary Guard shot down a US surveillance drone, sparking competing and unverifiable accounts over where the downing occurred.

"If the president insists on a premature vote, we'll have no choice but to oppose it", AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said this week at a union event in Pittsburgh.

"They played phenomenal basketball; I watched a little bit of it", Trump said.

But the pact's ratification by U.S. lawmakers is uncertain because Democrats, who control the House of Representatives, are seeking tougher enforcement measures.

Palestinians don't need Bahrain meeting, they need peace
It is a strategic mistake and the American administration is committing daily mistakes against the Palestinian people. Hamas, the Islamist militant group that controls Gaza , was more blunt, insisting: " Palestine isn't for sale ".

Head coach Nick Nurse told Sportsnet's Prime Time Sports Wednesday night that he's been in contact with officials at the Prime Minister's office about scheduling the visit, but no details have been worked out. "We can't have big, tremendous shipments of certain products - they understand that very well".

After the meeting, the White House issued a statement saying "both leaders affirmed their strong support for the swift passage of the agreement in their two countries".

The agreement is now stuck in Congress amid fighting between Republicans and Democrats, so the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which the USMCA is supposed to replace, will remain in effect. Trudeau signalled at the end of the day that reopening the deal to meet any new demands is a non-starter for the Liberals.

It was not clear exactly who would attend the meeting or when it would happen. Mexico adopted the USMCA on Wednesday in a landslide vote in its Senate. All Trump said is that he would think about it.

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said he was confident there would be progress on ratification in "the next couple of weeks".

Trump also said it was a "terrific thing" that Trudeau was to make the rounds on Capitol Hill with Pelosi and the U.S. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell.

"We recognize, however, that the going through its process and we remain alert to potential challenges and opportunities that may come through that process".
