Prince Harry and Meghan in charity split from William and wife Kate

While it was originally planned that Meghan, Harry, Kate and William would work together at Kensington Palace, the foursome have recently parted ways.

The birthday message came the day after Meghan and Harry revealed they were splitting from the Royal Foundation, the Fab Four's charity.

It's no secret that William is supposedly none too keen on Harry's wife, former actress Meghan Markle, and that his disapproval has caused a divide between the typically close siblings.

"Happy Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge!" said Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's message.

While numerous royal family's social media accounts dedicated a post to the royal dad for his birthday on Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stuck to their preferred way of sending well wishes on Instagram - with a comment.

Royal author Katie Nicholl claims that the Duke of Cambridge's "well-meaning, brotherly advice went down quite badly with Harry, who felt William wasn't being as supportive as he might have been".

"If they don't I think it's pretty rude and will certainly be construed as purposeful".

"The ring is obviously yellow gold because that's [Meghan's] favorite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewelry collection, to make sure that she's with us on this insane journey together", Harry said during the pair's first interview with the BBC, hours after announcing their engagement.

Could this weirdly formal comment have something to do with the Royal Foundation split news?

"For years, before he met Meghan, he was the royal, third wheel, standing behind William and Kate", Larcombe added.
