Turkey to take delivery of Russian missile systems in July

"This is why I say Morsi did not die, he was murdered", Erdogan told supporters on Wednesday at an election rally in Istanbul.

Erdogan, scheduled to meet President Donald Trump during a G20 meeting in Japan next week, said he hopes to dissuade the US from imposing sanctions.

Erdogan's Islamist-rooted AK Party supported Morsi's short-lived Egyptian government, and many Brotherhood members and supporters have fled to Turkey since its activities were banned in Egypt.

Turkey will retaliate against any United States sanctions imposed after it takes the delivery of a missile-defense system from Russia, President Erdogan told journalists.

Washington is reportedly halting the training of Turkish pilots of U.S. F-35 fighter jets in addition to threatening economic and other military sanctions as Ankara insists on its S-400 deal with Russian Federation.

"Our relations with Trump are at a level that I would describe as good".

Technically, the solstice occurs when the sun is directly over the imaginary Tropic of Cancer or 23.5°N latitude. In some cultures it is seen as the middle of winter, while in others it is seen as the beginning of winter.

Washington has repeatedly threatened to impose sanctions unless Ankara backs down from the S-400 purchase. "We discuss matters when there is a problem, we conduct telephone diplomacy", Erdogan said.

In August a year ago, Turkey's lira crashed to a record low of 7.2 against the dollar when Trump implemented targeted sanctions against two Turkish ministers involved in the imprisonment of an American pastor, Andrew Brunson, on terror and espionage charges.

Turkey plans to buy 100 US F-35s and its defence industry has ploughed significant sums for the manufacture of the warplanes.

"We, as Turkey, will follow this issue and do everything possible for Egypt to be tried in worldwide courts for Morsi's death", he was quoted as saying by Dawn, calling on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take action towards this end.

Erdogan recalled that Turkey had paid $1.25 billion for the 100 F-35 jets and would seek compensation in an arbitration court if these aircraft were not delivered.
