After booing so many draft picks for so many years, Knicks supporters were overjoyed when the team selected R.J. Barrett, of Mississauga, Ont., third overall on Thursday night.

Coming out of high school, Barrett was ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit and entered 2018-19 as the preseason favorite to be drafted first overall in 2019.

Murray State point guard Ja Morant and Duke high-scoring freshman forward RJ Barrett are projected to follow Williamson in the top three picks, with the uncertainty starting with the No. 4 pick.

The Memphis Grizzlies have wasted no time replacing veteran point guard Mike Conley by selecting Murray State sophomore Ja Morant with the second overall pick in the National Basketball Association draft. The Knicks also worked out Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland earlier this week.

"I have some big shoes to fill in Mike Conley", Morant said. Getting drafted - especially at the top of the NBA Draft - is the realization of dreams for many of these players. "We thought being at the No. 3 position gave us the chance to draft who we felt had the most upside as a basketball player".

Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets that the Hawks have been targeting De'Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish, while Wojnarowski separately adds that Atlanta is pursuing Hunter.

Boris Johnson extends lead in United Kingdom race for prime minister
Johnson is being challenged by Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, Environment Secretary Michael Gove and Home Secretary Sajid Javid. Thursday's fourth ballot takes place between 10am and 12pm (0900 GMT and 1100 GMT), with the result declared an hour later.

"Because I love the game of basketball", he said.

Barrett joins a Knicks team still featuring Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox and Dennis Smith the young core.

France previously held the record with five players taken in the 2016 draft.

Kentucky then had two straight picks, with PJ Washington going 12th to Charlotte and Tyler Herro 13th to Miami.

A record six Canucks were selected Thursday night with four being taken in the first round, alone. Toronto's only pick was 59th, the second-last of the entire evening. I'm grateful and thankful to them for drafting me.
