England v Sri Lanka, 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup

England take on Sri Lanka in ODI 27 of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Sri Lanka could only manage to win against Afghanistan in the five matches they have played so far. England now sit on third position on the points table after winning four of their five games. The two other matches which they had a realistic chance of getting 4 points out of - against Pakistan and Bangladesh - were both washed out completely.

Chasing 233 for victory on a slow track, England struggled against veteran Malinga's variations before they fell to their second defeat of the tournament, squandering an opportunity to join holders Australia at the top of the standings.

Spinner Adil Rashid took two wickets in two deliveries in the 30th over to further turn the screws on Sri Lanka before Archer (3-52) and Wood (3-40) wreaked havoc towards the end.

Don't open 'Pandora's Box' in Middle East, China warns
The US military will send an additional 1,000 troops to the Middle East as tensions build with Iran. That increased pressure preceded a string of attacks that the USA has blamed on Iran.

Sri Lanka's hopes in the world cup hang by a thread.

Where is England vs Sri Lanka taking place? .

While against New Zealand, Sri Lanka lost five wickets for 14 runs to be bundled out for 136, they were dismissed for 201 in 36.5 overs by Afghanistan after losing seven wickets for 36 runs.

In their last game against Australia, Sri Lanka suffered an 87-run loss at the Kennington Oval in London and therefore, it would need an extraordinary performance from Dimuth Karunaratne's men to get past an in-form English side.
