Manchester City to pay €70m for Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri

Manchester City to pay €70m for Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri

Both clubs are more than willing to pay the £62.5million release clause, after the 22 year old asked for time to consider his future. Despite Bayern making contact with the player some weeks ago, the journalist Sam Lee says that Rodri has already informed Atletico of his desire to join the Premier League champions.

The Spain worldwide only joined Atletico in a £21.5m deal from La Liga rivals Villarreal last summer, however, the midfielder has now told the club he wants to move on after just one season with Diego Simeone's side. Atletico Madrid were reportedly unwilling to listen to offers less than €70million which is also Rodri's release clause amount.

The Blues have been quiet in the early parts of this summer transfer window following a historic domestic treble-winning season which saw them lift the Premier League, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Rodri has also attracted interest from other clubs such as Bayern Munich and Manchester United, tweeted Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Marvel approaches Keanu Reeves for ‘almost every film’, says Kevin Feige
It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Keanu Reeves was supposedly in early talks for a role in Marvel's The Eternals . I also can't say I'm overjoyed at the concept of such a film - unless they get Keanu Reeves in there somewhere, that is.

However, Manchester City's relentless scouting for Fernandinho's successor in defensive midfield has finally paid off as Rodri's transfer to the Etihad Stadium looks imminent.

Rodri's capture would break Manchester City's transfer record.

The midfielder has reportedly told Atletico he wishes to leave in this transfer window, and City are now believed to be in pole position to sign the Spain global.
