Kenya Isolates Ebola Suspect Said to Have Entered through Uganda Border

The lady who had been isolated at the Kericho County Referral Hospital tested negative for the Ebola disease as well for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers.

Tanzania has not had any cases of Ebola to date.

Three other people have been put in the isolation ward at Kenya's Kericho Referral Hospital after a woman was Sunday admitted with Ebola-like symptoms.

The woman is reportedly expencing symptoms associated with the disease including fever, headaches, join paints, a sore throat and vomiting, BBC News reported, but Kenya's health minister has downplayed the threat.

They were the woman's husband and two others who had assisted him to take her to hospital.

Kericho County had said the quarantine procedure was initiated as a measure of caution and that the symptoms exhibited by the patient may as well be connected to a disease other than Ebola.

Speaking earlier at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport during an inspection of the Ebola screening exercise by medical teams at the airport, the CS said Kenya was on high alert and surveillance had been heightened at all border posts.

That's when someone coughed which was caught on the microphone and Trump demanded to do that one over again. Unfortunately, the interview was sidetracked for a moment when someone in the room chose to cough.

"We do not need to panic over what has been reported because we are making sure to screen everyone who comes into the country through our border points", she said. The family had been crossing the border between the two countries to attend the funeral of the boys' grandfather, who died from Ebola in Mabalako.

The outbreak in eastern Congo has killed more than 1,400 people since August and last week it spread to neighboring Uganda where two people died. The WHO Director General is in Uganda to assess the Ebola situation.

Addressing the press on Monday afternoon, Health CS Sicily Kariuki reassured Kenyans and visitors the government had already put in place precautionary measures just in case after establishing the woman suspected to have been infected was in stable condition.

"It was the view of the committee that the outbreak is a health emergency in DRC and the region, but does not meet the criteria for a public health emergency of global concern", the United Nations health agency's expert committee said in a statement.

The United Nations Children's Fund's modification in its response phase consisted of months of preparations and then precaution efforts as there has been a rise in the cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
