Google confirms leaked screenshots show new Pixel 4 smartphone

Now Google is feeding the speculation with a leak of its own.

Concept images claiming to show forthcoming smartphones are common in the technology industry, however, few companies ever acknowledge such rumours before officially announcing their latest products. Along with the image was the tweet "Well, there seems to be some interest, here you go!" "Wait 'til you see what it can do #Pixel4".

Speaking of eyesores, the high-resolution renders reveal an all-new rear camera design for the Pixel 4 that will seemingly take up a large portion of the back panel.

The image also showed no rear fingerprint reader, which has been a signature of the Pixel phones. Now, we already have a photo of the Pixel 4 in the wild, and it obviously looks exactly like the phone in Google's render.

Google's Pixel 4 continues to leak. This is not surprising as the Pixel 2, Pixel 3 and newly launched Pixel 3a have an official fabric phone case.

There's now no release date for the Pixel 4. This means that Google will most likely adopt an in-display unit.

At this stage it looks like the Made By Google event will be in October and expect a Pixel 4 with five imaging modules along with some Project Soli integration for hands-free gestures.

An engineer from Google said that the upcoming Pixel 4 is going to offer a robust dual-SIM capability that has been missing from the previous Pixel device. Or is Google considering releasing the Pixel 4 earlier than usual?

And it's that camera module that indicates we're looking at a Pixel 4 phone because we have no other identifying details about the handset.

What do you think of the Google Pixel phone range? With makers always attempting to one-up one another with better cameras and multi-lens arrays and motion sensors, there's just so much room inside the phone to really put things.

The report goes on to state that Google has three separate design teams working independently on the Pixel 4 devices and there's no coordination between them.
