In an interview aired late Wednesday by ABC News television, Trump was asked about taking help similar to the research offered by Russian operatives to his 2016 campaign about rival Hillary Clinton. "Oh, I think I'd want to hear it".

Trump seemed to dismiss the threat posed by Russia's interference in the 2016 election, one that led to sweeping indictments by special counsel Robert Mueller, and his incendiary remarks come as congressional investigations into the meddling have quickened.

"As we go down this path to seek the truth for the American people and to hold the president accountable, it has nothing to do with politics or any campaign", she said. He said his committee is working on a bill to define foreign assistance for the purposes of election and that getting opposition research from a foreign power should be prohibited.

"I have not met a congressman, Democrat or Republican, who's said that they've ever done this", Krishnamoorthi said in an interview with CNN Thursday morning.

Just last month, Trump pledged not to use information stolen by foreign adversaries in his 2020 re-election campaign, even as he wrongly insisted he hadn't used such information to his benefit in 2016.

"Somebody comes up and says, 'hey, I have information on your opponent, ' do you call the Federal Bureau of Investigation?"

Donald Trump Jr. arrives for an interview before the Senate Intelligence Committee, on Capitol Hill, in Washington, D.C., on June 12, 2019. "We talked about 'Everything!'" Trump said. The investigation was first disclosed by then-FBI Director James Comey at a committee hearing in March 2017, and Mr. Schiff said he has received few answers about it since Mr. Comey was sacked by Mr. Trump two months later. Robert Mueller's Russian Federation report, submitted in April, detailed how the president's former lawyer Michael Cohen recalled that Trump Jr may have told his father about the meeting; the president has denied knowing about it ahead of time.

They continue to say that everything that was agreed between the USA and Mexico is on the table, is out there in public. Trump, however, refused to share the details, saying, "I'm going to let Mexico do the announcement at the right time ".

"President Trump is once again welcoming foreign interference in our elections", Biden tweeted.

During the campaign, Trump praised WikiLeaks, which released a trove of hacked Democratic National Committee emails. "How ridiculous! I would never be trusted again", the president added before lashing out at the media for allegedly "purposely" omitting "the part that matters" from his comments.

Other Democratic candidates accused Trump of undermining the integrity of the election system and threatening national security. Chuck Grassley said he's "a little astonished at the outrage" over Trump.

Trump continued: "I think I'd want to hear it". "Now maybe it will start happening; maybe today you'd think differently".

Former White House communications director Hope Hicks has agreed to a closed-door interview with the House Judiciary Committee, the panel announced Wednesday, a breakthrough for Democrats who have been frustrated by President Donald Trump's broad stonewalling of their investigations.

"I meet and talk to "foreign governments" every day". But Trump, who nominated Wray to the role in 2017, told ABC News that he disagrees. As one of the longest-serving Trump aides during the campaign and in the White House, Hicks had a front-row seat in numerous incidents the Democrats are investigating.
