Marlen Ochoa-Lopez murder: Baby cut from womb dies

A baby cut from the womb of a murdered Chicago teen died Friday morning after spending weeks on life support in a long-shot bid to save his life, a family spokesperson says.

She and her 24-year-old daughter, Desiree Figueroa, are charged with murder in the death of the baby's mother, 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, and Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Friday that he expects both women will now be charged with murder in the infant's death.

The baby had been in grave condition since the April 23 attack on his mother.

Yovanny Jadiel Lopez died at Christ Medical Centre in Oak Lawn, Chicago, from a severe brain injury, according to a statement posted on Facebook by family spokeswoman Julie Contreras, who expressed "great sadness" in announcing the baby's death.

Ochoa-Lopez was found dead in a garbage can in the backyard of a house in Chicago on May 15, where she went missing on April 23. Her family became concerned after she had not picked up her 3-year-old son from day care.

Police say Ochoa-Lopez was strangled and her unborn baby was cut out of her.

"Please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers as they go through this hard time", she added. Clarisa Figueroa's partner, Piotr Bobak, 40, was charged with concealment of a homicide.

Asked about the family's motivation for slaying the teen and stealing her baby, Johnson replied: "Only they know that", reported ABC 7.

TurboGrafx-16, PC Engine Mini joins retro console crowd
NEC's TurboGrafx-16 was a competitor to the Nintendo's NES and SNES consoles in the '80s and '90s, as well as the Sega Genesis. For those wondering where Konami's involvement comes in, the company merged with Hudson Soft back in 2012.

Surrounded by family members, Marlen Ochoa-Lopez's husband, Yovany Lopez, talks to reporters outside the Cook County medical examiner's office after identifying his wife's body on May 16.

"He suffered irrevocable brain damage", Ms Contreras said, according to local TV station WLS.

The two first met in person around April 1, when Ochoa went to the Figueroas' house and left unharmed, prosecutors allege.

A picture surfaced of Figueroa smiling over the baby in hospital, after she arrived covered in blood. Then she revealed that her mother had just delivered a baby, authorities said.

"Words can not express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are", Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters at a news conference to announce the charges about three weeks after Ochoa vanished on April 23. They tried to resuscitate the infant and took him to a hospital, where he remained until Friday in critical condition.

The three defendants are due back in court June 26.

That's when Desiree Figueroa, 24, pried Ochoa-Lopez's fingers from the cord while her mother continued to strangle the teen.
