Kim Kardashian Praises Trump, Offers Ridesharing For Former Inmates

The 38-year-old reality star joined President Trump at a press conference to speak about the Second Chance hiring and reentry event on Thursday (June 13) in Washington, DC. Kim's visit aimed at promoting efforts to help those leaving prison return to the workforce without any judgement.

She went on to explain that she is partnering with a ride-share program to ensure former inmates have ways to get to job interviews and meetings in order to break the cycle of recidivism.

Democratic strategists are accusing Trump as using criminal justice reform as a way of telling white people that they won't be voting for a racist, and Kardashian is playing right into their hands.

"Jared and Ivanka were incredible and they really pushed it, and I think they were being pushed a little bit also by Kim Kardashian ... and Kanye", Trump said as the audience applauded. Trump granted Johnson clemency and she was released from prison in June 2018.

Kardashian West is now studying law and working as an assistant to two attorneys, with the goal of becoming a lawyer.

Democratic strategists said they did not expect the Trump administration's work on criminal justice to move black voters to his corner in 2020.

"I'm honored to be a part of the announcement that the administration and the private sector are stepping up to create opportunities for those men and women to success once home", she added.

Ms Kardashian West became involved with the issue after learning about the case of Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother who was serving a life sentence without parole for drug offences.

She added that "seeing the compassion that he's had for criminal justice has been really remarkable".

"She's going to be one of the most successful lawyers, I hate to tell all my lawyers back there", Trump said of Kardashian. "Thank you for providing ride share credits to formally incarcerated people when they come home".

"These people want to work, they want the best outcome", she said.

On Thursday, Trump praised the reality TV starm who has been pivotal in facilitating the release of former inmates, as a "great friend".

Kardashian West explained that she was inspired to be an advocate for prisoners after visiting jails and hearing multiple stories from inmates.
