Manchester United fans react to Romelu Lukaku's flirtatious message to Inter Milan

Lukaku has made it clear that he would welcome a move to Italy two years after joining United for £75million and rejecting the chance to play for Conte at Chelsea.

The Italian club are now expected to make a formal offer for Lukaku after he heaped praise on Conte - although they face competition from Juventus where current Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri could join Cristiano Ronaldo in Turin next season and, possibly, Carlo Ancelotti's Napoli.

The 26-year-old's future at Old Trafford has been something of a source of speculation in recent months, with Inter Milan said to be interested in luring him to Serie A this summer.

United are said to want to recoup most of the £75million they paid Everton to sign him in 2017.

Robertson was instrumental in Liverpool's success both in the Premier League and of course, the Champions League during the 2018/19 season.

After scoring for Belgium against Scotland in a Euro qualifier, Lukaku revealed that he will speak to United about a potential transfer away from Old Trafford.

With two wickets falling inside 10 overs, no one could estimate as to what would have happened had there been a resumption. I'm sure the West Indies saw that game as a big chance missed in terms of putting one of the tournament favourites away.

Asked if he will be a Manchester United player next season, Lukaku told Sky Sports: "It's up to the club".

"I am a big fan of Serie A, who knows me is aware that I wanted to play in the Premier League and that I also want to play in Serie A".

But the United striker claims the manager knows how he feels.

"I am going to enjoy my holidays with my family now".

Lukaku's United days are numbered as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer favours Marcus Rashford up front.

Robertson will likely get a slightly extended break, so perhaps we won't see him in action in the pre-season friendlies before the Reds head over to the U.S., but to suggest he will miss the start of the new season is massively overstating this injury.
