Liverpool offer 5-year deal to Nabil Fekir

Liverpool offer 5-year deal to Nabil Fekir

Despite all reputable sources flatly insisted that the deal died that day last summer, the tabloid obsession with Fekir to Liverpool has continued to push tenuous links all year.

A year ago the Reds were on the verge of completing a £53million transfer - to the extent that the player had been interviewed for club media and been photographed in a shirt - when they pulled out over concerns about a historic knee injury.

Rangers have suffered a significant transfer blow after Leeds reportedly expressed an interest in signing Ryan Kent this summer.

In terms of the latter, Liverpool believe a fee of £12m would be reasonable for a player of Kent's experience.

Speculation continued throughout the rest of the summer suggesting Liverpool would revisit a deal at a lower fee or keep the £52m agreement but restructure the instalments to Lyon. However, their midfield disappointed on a few occasions last season and manager Jurgen Klopp is determined not to let it happen again. It does not necessarily represent the position of Liverpool Football Club.

"Effectively, Nabil is outside [of the two departures expected], because we have an understanding that he can go", Aulas said in May.

With two wickets falling inside 10 overs, no one could estimate as to what would have happened had there been a resumption. I'm sure the West Indies saw that game as a big chance missed in terms of putting one of the tournament favourites away.

The Lyon ace now only has a year remaining on his contract and there are suggestions that he could be sold for as little as £15million so you can see what the boss could be thinking here.

Fekir provided 12 goals and nine assists in 39 games for Lyon, who secured a third-placed finish in Ligue 1 past year.

A friendly between Liverpool and Lyon in Geneva on July 31 may hold the key to getting the deal done, Le Progres claims.

The pair will play a one-off uncompetitive clash with Liverpool having been linked with moves for a host of Lyon players including Fekir, Memphis Depay, Maxwell Cornet, Houssem Aouar and Tanguy Ndombele in recent months.

That's because Jürgen Klopp is only looking to make small adjustments to his squad this summer after a successful season.
