Turlock man among four Americans to die recently in Dominican Republic

- Another American tourist has died in the Dominican Republic: The latest casualty is a California man who fell critically ill at an all-inclusive resort about a month before three others died in their rooms, Fox News has learned.

Thousands of miles from home, Wallace became the first of four American tourists and one of two staying at the Hard Rock Hotel to die while vacationing at Dominican resorts and possibly partaking of minibar liquor.

Wallace is the fourth American to die while visiting the Dominican Republic since the end of April.

Wallace's niece, Chloe Arnold, said her uncle had been in relatively good health and had been skiing in Lake Tahoe the month before.

Five days later, Maryland couple Edward Nathaniel Holmes, 63 and Cynthia Day, 49, were found unresponsive in their hotel room at the same resort.

Miranda Schaup-Werner, 41, reportedly died in her room at the Bahia Principe Bouganville resort on May 25 of a pulmonary edema, according to authorities. The other three all died at sister resorts that are less than a mile apart from each other.

So we are well aware of what they have got and we know what's coming and we've got some plans to try and deal with that. Bangladesh , for example, have a five-day gap before their next game against West Indies in Taunton.

The increase in the number of mysterious deaths and sudden illnesses at resorts in the Dominican Republic has drawn an unsettling amount of attention to the nation.

Dominican authorities told Fox News that preliminary and final autopsy reports indicate that all died of natural causes, but families of the deceased are waiting on toxicology results. That was April 11; on April 13, a hotel doctor decided he needed to be hospitalized, and by April 14 he was dead. "How many times have we heard about problems?" asked Murphy. "We don't want this to happen to anyone else".

Maryland woman Dawn McCoy reported that her husband, David Harrison, died in similar circumstances almost a year ago at the same Hard Rock Cafe Wallace, according to Fox News. Their death certificates list the cause of death for both as heart attacks. Some said they would no longer be going to the Dominican Republic in light of so many fatalities.

In a June 7 statement, the Bahia Principe said it has a "firm commitment to collaborate completely with the authorities and hope for a prompt resolution". "We were promised within three months that we would receive a toxicology report, to this day, which is nearly a year now, we've got nothing".

Social media users have expressed concern about the deaths, which have prompted a probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and CDC.
