Cup race at Michigan postponed to today because of rain

Rain hit Michigan International Speedway on Sunday morning raising concerns as to whether or not the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be run. After drying the track and getting drivers lined up for what NASCAR hoped would be a 3:02 p.m. ET start, the rain returned.

Welcome to NASCAR DFS Pit Stop for Friday's NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series race. The race never began Sunday, and the postponement was announced after a delay of about 2½ hours from the scheduled start time. Defending race victor Clint Bowyer starts fifth.

The race is scheduled for 400 miles and 200 laps, but it may not go that long.

Zakka operated the Arab ICT Organization, which promotes information technology and Internet freedom in the Middle East. Zakka was arrested by Iran's Revolutionary Guard and eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison on spying charges.

The last time a Cup race at MI was pushed past the weekend was in August of 2007, when Kurt Busch won. Kevin Harvick won the August Cup race at MIS.

Joey Logano will lead the field to the green flag once the race is underway. All drivers earning series points are eligible and drivers who win one of the three races receive a $50,000 bonus.

The race isn't starting until late Monday so Fox Sports could broadcast the event on FS1 - it's contracted to show the FIFA Women's World Cup throughout the afternoon, per media reports. Ford won both races a year ago and had eight of the top 10 cars this weekend in qualifying.
