Hazard joins Real Madrid on five-year deal

Childhood dream for the Chelsea forward, Eden Hazard finally came true with an official announcement to Real Madrid, Friday.

He also won back-to-back player of the season awards, following Jose Mourinho's return to the club in June 2013, besides achieving the same feat four times in six campaigns.

With Chelsea having fallen way behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League, Hazard leaves Stamford Bridge hungry to compete again for the top honours in the game, particularly the Champions League which he has never won.

Chelsea quickly moved to pay tribute to Hazard on confirming his departure, with his Blues career ending on 352 appearances and 110 goals.

The Belgian becomes Real Madrid's second signing of the week after Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic was signed for €60 million on Tuesday.

However, in a chat with AS on Sunday, Laporta questioned the transfer policy of the club vis-à-vis home-grown players.

He has been a model professional throughout his time at the club, a wonderful individual to have around and a joy to work with. 'It is completely out of respect to the current players at the club and it is likely Eden will get a new one once he retires.' After officially sealing his move, Hazard took to social media to write a heartfelt message of thanks to supporters who stood by his during his Chelsea days.

He rose to fame as a founding member of the Geto Boys . " Bushwick Bill passed away peacefully this evening at 9:35 PM". Born in 1966, Bill joined the pioneering Texas rap group in 1986 as a dancer, before transitioning to rapping.

"I'm happy for him, it's a good step forward".

In an open letter to Chelsea fans published on his Facebook page, Hazard said: "You now know that I will be joining Real Madrid".

His final act in Chelsea blue was to score twice and assist once in the 4-1 Europa League final thrashing of Arsenal in Baku.

Chelsea said the club had tried to persuade Hazard to stay.

Mired midst a lot of controversies, due to transfer ban, it will be a huge task for Chelsea to find the replacement.

The Stamford Bridge hierarchy want their eventual new manager to arrive with the potential to make new recruits, with Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho a possible target as Hazard's replacement.
