Manchester United set to announce signing of Bruno Fernandes after Nations League

Fernandes is attracting interest from across Europe after scoring 32 goals and assisting 18 in 53 appearances last season.

However, conflicting reports coming out of Italy suggest that it's Manchester United who are in pole position to sign Fernandes with journalist Pietro Balzano Porta claiming the Red Devils are closing in on a deal.

The midfielder's rise to stardom in the past year has seen him garner a horde of admirers with both the Manchester clubs reported to be at the forefront of the interest.

Eric Dier has been quoted by O Jogo as saying that he regards Tottenham Hotspur-linked Bruno Fernandes is one of the best players in Portuguese football.

Fernandes started as Portugal reached the Nations League final with a 3-1 victory over Switzerland on Wednesday night.

As such, United seem to hold the advantage with funds at their disposal and they are keen on acting fast to pursue the Portuguese, who contributed directly to 33 league goals for Sporting last term.

After a torrid 2018-19 season, the summer window is crucial for Manchester United if they are to break into the top four of the Premier League next time out.

Manchester United have already begun their squad overhaul having released 15 players including Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera, before bringing in Swansea City winger Daniel James as their first summer signing.

Liverpool have been tipped to sign a creative attacking midfielder this summer, in order to add more guile in the middle of the park.

Judging by the form he has been in, Fernandes has the potential to be an excellent addition to this Manchester United side.
