John Cena Joining Major Movie Franchise

John Cena Joining Major Movie Franchise

Ex-pro wrestler John Cena has said it's an "incredible honour" to be joining the cast of Fast & Furious 9.

The official confirmation comes two months after longtime star of the franchise, Vin Diesel, hinted at the addition on his Instagram account.

However, for fans hoping to see a thrice in a lifetime showdown between The Great One and the big fat bowl of fruity pebbles, get ready to be disappointed. It was also confirmed that Dwayne Johnson will not appear in the film, which was already all but certain (via Deadline).

Apex Legends Season 2 Includes Ranked Mode, New Weapon, New Legend Wattson
Wattson's passive ability allows her to get an ultimate charge to 100 percent using Ultimate Accelerants and repeatedly spam them. Her name is Watson and she will be a defensive character, able to place electrical fences down that can block enemies' progress.

Cena's character is under wraps, the only word coming to us is that he plays "a badass".

"For almost 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history", he wrote. We know, we know: John Cena? He's working from a screenplay by Dan Casey, who penned the script for Josh and Jonathan Baker's intriguing sci-fi thriller Kin. Fast & Furious 9 is set for a May 2020 release. But if Johnson must sit out the next installment in the main franchise, Cena is as good a choice to replace him as any - in fact, better than most we could think of, given that he's diligently proven his talent. That makes this the first Fast and Furious movie since Tokyo Drift not to be written by Chris Morgan. Hobbs & Shaw is helmed by David Leitch the man behind John Wick, Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2, so we can at least expect the action sequences to be awesome.
