Djokovic's Slam run ends at French; Thiem vs Nadal in final

Djokovic's Slam run ends at French; Thiem vs Nadal in final

"To be in the semi-finals with the three best players of all time (Nadal beat Roger Federer in the other semi on Friday) is really incredible".

Two forehands thumped into the net to give Thiem a third match point and this time the Austrian finally sealed victory.

Rain then forced the players off for just over an hour.

It snapped Djokovic's 26-match winning streak in Grand Slams and ended the Serbian's hopes of holding all four of the sport's major prizes simultaneously for the second time, having achieved it by winning his only French Open in 2016.

The clay courts of Roland Garros host the second Grand Slam of the season. The victor will face 11-time champion Rafael Nadal in Sunday's final.

The Spaniard will compete for the title in Paris for the 12th time in the last 15 years, proving his clay-court dominance at the favorite Major and standing tall against both his rivals and age to repeat what stayed safe since the early 70s.

But in a post on his social media channels ahead of the French Open final between Nadal and Dominic Thiem, Federer said he could still hear the chants ringing in his ears.

It will be the fourth straight day that Thiem is in action because of postponements, whereas Nadal will be well-rested, having played his quarterfinal Tuesday and his semifinal Friday, when he beat Roger Federer 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

Djokovic: I don't know.

There was one final twist as Djokovic's 53rd unforced error on a wild forehand set up a third match point which the Austrian gobbled up with his 52nd victor. The Serbian player also slammed poor weather conditions as one of "the worst conditions I have ever been part of", after the match.

The pinnacle of his career was when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by singer John Legend in 2011. John was born in including a cemetery and a voodoo temple. "(Everybody Wanna Get Rich) Rite Away" is off of Dr.

"Obviously when you're playing in hurricane kind of conditions, it's hard to perform your best", Djokovic told reporters.

When play was halted, with the top seed trailing 1-3 in the third set, there was still around two hours of daylight remaining.

"I'm full of adrenaline, of course, still from today's match, and also I will have that tomorrow", he said.

Thiem leads 4-1 in the fifth.

Then Djokovic got broken to trail 3-1 in the deciding set when he missed a volley, and Thiem held for 4-1.

But Thiem, playing in the first five-set match of his career, stood tall, even after squandering two match points.

Djokovic managed to get back on serve when Thiem sent a lob long after the restart, but he was on the edge after a trio of unforced errors and a double fault.

In an interview at the Mutua Madrid Open last month, Thiem told ESPN.com that he believes he is a better player than he was 12 months ago, better equipped to handle Nadal. Djokovic eventually took that game.
