Apex Legends Season 2 Includes Ranked Mode, New Weapon, New Legend Wattson

According to EA, players will need to "create an ecosystem to survive the current meta of Apex legends".

Additional details on the Season 2 Battle Pass for Apex Legends were provided today during EA Play 2019.

For starters, Battle Pass will kick off on July 2 and will feature daily and weekly challenges for the first time. It's a pretty powerful weapon, so to start with will be available in care packages only rather than standard loot. The aim for the new season is to provide a more enjoyable, less-grindy experience for players, enabling them to level up their Battle Pass much faster than they've been able to, to date. The L-Star is a plasma-fueled EMG.

Apex Legends' second post-launch character will release alongside the L-Star weapon with the game's next season. Talk about a game-changer. Wattson's passive ability allows her to get an ultimate charge to 100 percent using Ultimate Accelerants and repeatedly spam them. In addition, standing near interception pylons will boost the recharge rate of Wattson's tactical ability.

Wattson abilities emphasize a more "stance, RTS" approach that gives players an alternative to the hyper-aggressive playstyle that's now dominating the meta. Her name is Watson and she will be a defensive character, able to place electrical fences down that can block enemies' progress.

Blue, white and red Paris celebrates women's World Cup kick off
The venue for the semi-finals and the final is Groupama Stadium, where Lyon Feminine play some of their home matches. For over an hour on Saturday, one of the Women's World Cup favorites looked a bit disconnected and unimaginative.

Wattson was introduced in Apex Legend's first cinematic for one of its characters. She and her father actually invented the Ring, and she grew up in the arena while they were building it. Respawn promised to expand upon the universe of Apex Legends with backstory that'll finally answer players' questions about the game.

A new Ranked mode is also coming. It goes from Bronze to Apex Predator, and uses special matchmaking for each different tier.

Closing out the stream was a sizzle reel that featured a very intriguing teaser - some sort of giant animal/monster eyeball.

There's also a couple "big things" coming to Kings Canyon during Season 2.

There's a new playable Legend coming to the game!
