PlayStation 4 to get 16 player parties and improved voice chat

Sony also claims that it has improved audio quality for voice chat and that it's improved network connectivity, so even if you've never bumped up against the current max party size before, there are still some improvements here to take advantage of.

In an interview with CNET, President and CEO of Sony's PlayStation division Jim Ryan was asked if the PlayStation 5 will be Sony's "last console", to which he responded "Who knows how it might evolve?" Back in 2015 Microsoft upped the Xbox Live party limit to 12 (and since increased it to 16), but almost four years later Sony is going from eight to 16.

PS4 firmware update 6.71 has been released today and you might be wondering what it actually does, so here's some information on this new system software update.

U.S. testers will also get early access an English-language transcription feature that converts Party voice chat into text on the PS4 Second Screen app. In the Preview Program, parties that you are able to join will have an asterisk (*) in front of the Party name.

Oil plunges into bear market territory, could this be why?
By then, both contracts were in bear-market territory, having lost more than 20 per cent from peaks reached in late April. The United States has also threatened to put tariffs on goods from its major trading partner Mexico.

These updates are heading to the PlayStation Preview Program first, and sign-ups are being opened up soon. There is a big proviso: if you participate in the preview, you can't join a party or use Share Play with folks who aren't in it. So.tread lightly. There's no indication yet that it'll become available elsewhere or in other languages.

There seems to be some confusion as to which locales the Chat Transcription app will be available, it seems to be just for the US but the information has also been posted on the EU PlayStation Blog.

Chat transcription will convert party voice chat into text on a paired second screen.

Cross generational play (i.e. the ability for PS4 and PS5 users to play multiplayer games online together) is something that Sony has touted before, and Ryan's comments seem to guarantee the feature as a sure-fire thing for its next-gen console.
