John Cena Officially Joins ‘Fast & Furious 9’

This is not secret to anyone who follows Vin Diesel on Instagram because he teased in April that Cena would be part of the franchise in a video posted to Instagram. Universal officially announced Cena for the movie this afternoon. Cena's character is being kept a secret for now, and the only information about him is that he's playing "a badass".

Cena is following a similar career trajectory as Dwayne Johnson, going from WWE wrestler to "franchise Viagra" in movies.

Last year, while interviewing Cena for his hilarious turn in Blockers, EW actually suggested that he'd be ideal alongside Johnson in a Fast movie.

Trump says Nasa should stop talking about going back to the Moon
President Donald Trump sparked a Twitter uproar on Friday with a confusingly-phrased tweet that initially gave the impression he believed the moon was part of Mars.

Johnson told MTV News back in January that he was pretty much resigned to sitting out Fast & Furious 9 due to his commitment to Hobbs & Shaw, the spin-off buddy picture co-starring Jason Statham that's set to open August 2. That makes this the first Fast and Furious movie since Tokyo Drift not to be written by Chris Morgan.

Production gets underway this month, and Fast & Furious 9 (which I'm hoping will eventually have a title that continues the trend of this franchise's wildly inconsistent naming conventions) races into theaters on May 22, 2020.

It looks like John Cena is in and The Rock is out.
