Trump insults Mueller and Pelosi at USA military cemetery in France

President Trump stands with World War II veterans during a ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, on Thursday.

"We are investigating all of the things we would investigate, frankly, in an impeachment inquiry", Nadler told CNN on Tuesday. "Nancy Pelosi is a disaster, ok?"

Pelosi, Trump's political nemesis in Congress, has long stated she is not ready to proceed with what would be a deeply divisive impeachment action, and that she would prefer to see the president defeated at the ballot box next year.

Trump lashed out at Pelosi as he claimed former special counsel Robert Mueller "made such a fool out of himself" last week in remarks to the press as he left office. She's a disaster. Let her do what she wants, you know what?

Pressed on the issue by Representative Jerry Nadler, the chairman of the House judiciary committee, Pelosi said of Trump: "I don't want to see him impeached, I want to see him in prison".

For months Pelosi has sought to quell calls for impeachment coming from more hawkish fellow Democrats, arguing that a failed impeachment attempt would backfire horribly - as was the case with the botched attempt to impeach President Clinton.

Trump also used part of the interview to attack House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which comes after their recent feud where he raised questions about her mental fitness.

The report did not find any clear evidence to charge members of Trump's campaign with conspiring with Russian Federation, but neither did it exonerate the president on obstruction of justice.

A spokeswoman for Pelosi said she and Nadler "had a productive meeting about the state of play with the Mueller report". We concluded that we would not reach a determination one way or the other about whether the president committed a crime, ' he said.

Pelosi met with Nadler (D-N.Y.) and several other top Democrats who are aggressively pursuing investigations against the president, according to multiple sources. "Nancy will have the largest single voice in it".

"Make no mistake: we know exactly what path we're on".

Nadler has been outspoken about his intention to start and inquiry into whether Trump's conduct warrants impeachment proceedings.

Other attendees at the meeting included House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D., Md.), Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D., Mass.), and Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel (D., N.Y.).
