Amazon's new drones to start delivering packages in months

As per the company, this early model will be used to deliver small items like toothpaste to select segments in the USA by the end of the year. Likewise, Amazon said it plans to use its "world-class fulfillment and delivery network" to scale up Prime Air and make deliveries using the drone within months.

Wilke highlighted the drone's safety features, an impressive combination of hardware and software. It is also hiring more drivers and offering employees an opportunity to launch their own delivery enterprise with a subsidy from Amazon.

The drone would start shipping packages within months, starting with the US. Speaking at the company's Re:Mars conference in Las Vegas, Wilke described the new drone as efficient, stable, and safe. According to Wilke, Amazon's newest drone will be able to fly up to 15 miles and is capable of delivering packages under 5 pounds in less than 30 minutes. It did not specify where or when it would test the drone. It has unveiled the latest version of its Prime Air delivery drone.

"Our newest drone design includes advances in efficiency, stability and, most importantly, in safety", the company said in a blog post, which also includes a video of the drone in action.

U.S. officials say tensions with Iran are easing but they remain 'vigilant'
Many analysts and politicians have noted similarities between the Trump administration and President George W. However, such overtures by the Trump administration have been rejected by the Islamic Republic.

But when the drone comes into land at a customer's address, it will use computer vision techniques Amazon claimed to have invented, to avoid things like clotheslines and telephone wires.

"Today, the FAA issued a Special Airworthiness Certificate to Amazon Prime Air allowing the company to operate its MK27 unmanned aircraft for research and development and crew training in authorized flight areas", the FAA said in a statement to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The certificate is for one year and can be renewed, the FAA said. In April, Wing's drone earned FAA clearance to drop off packages at customers' homes in Virginia. It also helps reduce Amazon's carbon footprint - an electric drone traveling in a straight trajectory is certainly more efficient than a vehicle navigating busy roads.
