Maleah Davis: Body of 4-Year-Old Girl Found in Arkansas

Remains found in a garbage bag in Arkansas have officially been identified as those of missing Texas 4-year-old Maleah Davis. Her cause of death hasn't been released.

A roadside mowing crew reportedly discovered the black garbage bag with a pungent odor near Interstate 30.

After being allegedly "knocked unconscious" he woke up 24 hours later to Maleah missing, but her one-year-old brother, who he was also in care of, still there.

The family was living in Houston, but the search for Maleah led police 320 miles away to Hope, AR, after activist Quanell X, who was acting as Bowens' spokesperson, visited Vence in jail. He remains in jail after failing to post bond, and additional charges are pending. Investigators also collected blood from his apartment that was "consistent' with DNA taken from Maleah's toothbrush". (Bowens has since said she and Vence got into a fight before she left and called off the engagement.) Vence told police he had both Maleah and his 1-year-old son in the vehicle when he allegedly pulled over to check for a flat tire and three men attacked him.

He did not disclose the exact location of where Maleah's body was dumped, but Miller said search crews are traveling in a private plane to Arkansas at 3 recover her body.

The cause and manner of her death are pending.

"[Bowens] said to me when we [were] riding in my auto what she believed really happened to Maleah", he said.

A vote by the full House would be required to hold Barr and Ross in contempt on the census issue. Mueller said he hoped to never speak about the report again in public.

"All I can say is he told me it was an accident, and that she is dead and where he dumped her body", Quanell said last week during a press conference, ABC13 reported.

The man, Derion Vence, was the former partner of the girl's mother, Brittany Bowens.

This lovely four-year-old baby girl likely dumped in a wooded area in Arkansas and police say they were led there after a confession by Vence.

In a statement, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said her office has spoken with Vence's attorney and there is no agreement in the case. "The sadness surrounding Maleah Davis's disappearance has captured the hearts of our city and our nation".

Dorian Cotlar, Vence's attorney, did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Surveillance footage captured Derion Vence walking out of his apartment with a blue laundry basket.

After a canceled court appearance by Vence on May 13, Bowens was heckled outside the courtroom by people who questioned if she had done enough to protect her daughter before her disappearance.
