Projected No. 2 pick Morant to have knee surgery

Projected No. 2 pick Morant to have knee surgery

This would either put the Knicks in a bind and halt their rebuild or it would pay off huge and help attract other superstars to NY, there is no in-between.

Instead, the Knicks are likely to land RJ Barrett with the No 3 pick and Windhorst suggests NY will use him in trade talks with the Pelicans for Davis.

Whether a trade of this ilk could even be on the table depends on a lot of factors.

Morant is set to undergo a minor scope on his right knee to remove a "loose body" on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

After the New Orleans Pelicans take Zion Williamson at No. 1, Morant, the phenom point guard out of Murray State, is favored over Duke's R.J. Barrett to head to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Raptors star Kawhi Leonard suing Nike over use of 'Klaw' logo
An NBA Finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors apparently isn't the only battle Kawhi Leonard has on his hands. Leonard was a Nike endorser until 2018.

At first glance, there is not much to be excited about in the talent pool for this month's NBA Draft.

In turn, this would help entice the likes of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, among others, to Broadway.

If the Knicks ended up trading their pick for Davis and didn't reel in another superstar the trade would completely backfire because they would be stuck paying a guy they gave up everything to pick and they still would be struggling. There's also the possibility that the Knicks would stay and use the player the select in a potential trade package for Anthony Davis. The idea of a superteam featuring Irving, Durant and Davis has to be tantalizing, although that would leave the Knicks with plenty of roster-building questions, too.

As the Knicks look to rebuild an organization that's seen irrelevant in the National Basketball Association, what they do in June's draft will be telling.
