Almost 12M patients may be affected in Quest Diagnostics data breach

AMCA first notified Quest and Optum360 on May 14, 2019 of potential unauthorized activity on AMCA's web payment page. Credit card numbers, bank account information, medical information and social security numbers may have been exposed.

Quest "has not been able to verify the accuracy of the information received from AMCA, " Quest said in a statement posted on its website Monday.

This is a developing story.

Quest Diagnostics is one of the biggest blood testing providers in the U.S.

Quest said it's taking the matter "very seriously" and has suspended collections requests to AMCA.

Laboratory test results were not affected, Quest said.

The data breach occurred with one of Quest's billing partners.

There are ten Quest Diagnostics in the Mahoning and Shenango Valley.

"Those impacted should consider adding a fraud alert to the credit reporting agencies and a credit freeze will provide additional protection to consumers".
