Deontay Wilder Says Tyson Fury Rematch Is Next After Luis Ortiz Bout

In that respect, getting ready to square off against Andy Ruiz Jr. on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden is a bit of a letdown for the undefeated heavyweight champion.

The British fighter was all smiles as he stepped out in New York City to a great reception from his travelling fans, continuing to grin as he shared a word with Ruiz.

WBC world heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder claims he has signed an agreement to face Tyson Fury in a rematch after he has fought Luis Ortiz.

Twitter Freaks Out After Hearing Rihanna Pronounce Her Name

Parker who has landed a $6m three-fight deal to end his longest period of inactivity isn't instantly affected though his relevance to the division is emphasised by the Ruiz victory. "And I just got beat by a good fighter tonight", he said.

Ruiz was called in as an opponent for Joshua's Madison Square Garden debut at late notice after scheduled opponent Jarrell Miller returned an "adverse finding" in a pre-fight drug test. I thought Andy Ruiz Jr was done after he went down in the third but AJ got caught. "This is the hardest fight of my career but I know I will pull off an upset".

Ruiz's ambush win is being hailed by some as one of the major upsets in heavyweight history, ranking with 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson in 1990 and Leon Spinks' 15-round split decision over Muhammad Ali in 1978. "I still say there is hope, but I think the next person I want then is Fury".

The American was due to fight Joshua in his first fight in the United States, for the world heavyweight championship.

"The possibilities are still in there for the (other champions) to fight", Joshua said. Had it not been a championship fight, perhaps Griffin would have stopped the bout. "His whole career was consistent of lies, contradiction and gifts ... now we know who was running from who!"
