United offered World Cup star in exchange for Lukaku

It is understood that the expected appointment of Antonio Conte as Inter manager is the driving force behind the interest, with the former Chelsea coach a big fan of Lukaku.

Conte tried to sign Lukaku in the summer of 2017 when he was still at Stamford Bridge, but the striker opted to move to Manchester United from Everton instead. United, who signed Lukaku for around £90m, want closer to £70m to let him leave.

United have struggled for goals over the past two seasons but Lukaku has still managed to score 42 in 96 games since arriving from Goodison Park.

However Lukaku has refused to rule out a move away from Old Trafford recently and with Conte linked with Inter there's strong rumours that the Italian will make a move for the Belgian this summer.

Serie A campaigners Inter Milan are plotting a player plus cash massive deal for out-of-favour Man United forward Romelu Lukaku.

Skriniar has been excellent for Inter.

The Belgium global has scored 42 goals in 96 games for United, but failed to score in his last eight games this season and often found Marcus Rashford chosen ahead of him as the team's central striker after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became manager.

It is claimed in the same report that Woodward will be "stubborn" in negotiations because he doesn't feel that Lukaku's value has dropped that significantly.

United, meanwhile, have confirmed they have added another friendly to their summer schedule with a game against Kristiansund - Solskjaer's hometown team - in Oslo on July 30.
