IL company recalls more than 30 tons of beef for E. coli

The products have been shipped nationwide.

Aurora Packing Company has recalled its beef heel and chuck tender meat products for a possible E.coli contamination.

The CDC last month said an E. coli outbreak linked to contaminated beef had sickened 177 people in 10 states.

The recalled beef products were packaged on April 19, 2019, and have an establishment number of EST.

According to a press release, bacteria was discovered during traceback activities performed by FSIS. Consumers concerned about illness from the recalled beef should contact their healthcare provider. Symptoms can begin in 48 ours, but may take more than a week to develop. Individuals displaying these symptoms should seek emergency medical treatment.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. So far, there have not been any confirmed reports of anyone falling ill after eating the meat.
