Top 5 picks make NBA All-Rookie first team

Doncic averaged 21.2 points and 6 assists to finish the season, and was originally the favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year until the after the All-Star Game, where Young played the better half of his season.

Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, seemingly in a tight battle for the to-be-announced Rookie of the Year Award, were both unanimous selections to the first-team All-Rookie squad.

Young, who was No. 1 among rookies and fourth in the National Basketball Association in assists per game (8.1), and Dallas's Luka Doncic were the only players to receive all 100 first-team votes.

It's the first time since 1984-85 that the top five picks in the draft made the first team. He's only the second rookie since Oscar Robertson to average at least 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists a game.

Luka and Trae each earned 200 points in the voting and are joined by Deandre Ayton (195), Jaren Jackson Jr.

It's a bit of a tough time for Huawei's budget sub brand Honor to release its latest flagship phone, but, the show must go on. Honor Global recently launched a new smartphone series on May 21st that is Honor 20 series which included three new handsets.


Among all rookies Luka ranked first in scoring, second in rebounding, second in assists, and fifth in steals.

The honor marks the tenth time in team history that a Mavericks player has been named to an All-Rookie Team. Thirty-four years ago, the NBA All-Rookie Team honorees were Hakeem Olajuwon (No. 1 pick in 1984), Sam Bowie (No. 2), Michael Jordan (No. 3), Sam Perkins (No. 4) and Charles Barkley (No. 5).

The All-Rookie second team was led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Collin Sexton, with Landry Shamet, Mitchell Robinson and Kevin Huerter joining them on the list.

The Hawks had two all-rookie selections, with Kevin Huerter on the second team to join Young. The victor will be revealed at the 2019 NBA Awards presented by Kia on Monday, June 24 at 8 p.m. CT on TNT. He received one first-team vote and 29 second-team votes. The third annual NBA Awards will take place at Barker Hangar in Los Angeles.
