Zambrotta backing Juventus move for Chelsea boss Sarri

Derby County manager Frank Lampard has been tipped as the front-runner to replace Sarri should the Italian leave this summer, though sources told ESPN FC that no talks have yet taken place between the clubs.

Maurizio Sarri's future at Chelsea is not hinging on the result of the Europa League final against Arsenal later this month, it has been claimed.

Chelsea have struggled to replicate the swashbuckling style that earned Sarri gushing praise in his three seasons at Napoli, while relations between the Italian and a large section of match-going supporters have been toxic for some time.

Sarri was brought in as the Blues' new manager last summer and led them to a third-placed finish in the Premier League.

Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovic was also thought to be less than impressed with Sarri's questioning of the clubs recent post-season friendly in the United States of America in support of antisemitism, despite the club still having to prepare for next week's Europa League final.

SSN understands the Blues are not planning on changing their head coach but are looking at contingencies should Sarri decide to leave.

But perhaps the bigger problem is that some of Chelsea's big names are now on loan at the club and Sarri had plans to make the deals permanent during the summer.

And the Rams can seal a return to the Premier League in Lampard's debut season in the dugout by beating Aston Villa in the play-off final on Monday.

Stamford Bridge bosses have been impressed with the way Lampard has carried himself and are believed to be keen to bring him back along with Petr Cech.
