Microsoft Releases Update KB3085534 to Fix OneNote 2016 Sync Bug

Microsoft Releases Update KB3085534 to Fix OneNote 2016 Sync Bug

For Windows 10 devices that are at, or within several months of reaching, end of service, Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update; keeping those devices supported and receiving the monthly updates that are critical to device security and ecosystem health. According to the release notes, the bug was only for gov.uk websites that don't support HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS).

Microsoft claims that in order to correct the OneNote sync issues, you also have to install two other updates, namely 4461441 and 4464552. Again, all these patches include the same single fix, and all of them also come with minor known issues that will be fixed in an upcoming release.

When you install a Windows Update or make a major change to the OS, the system often reminds you to create a restore point (assuming it doesn't create one itself).

Though the Windows 10 May 2019 update (version 1903) is now rolling out to all users, Microsoft is issuing the update very slowly.

Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 May 2019 Update is now available and has started to roll out via the Windows Update control panel.

Thanks to a May 21 cumulative update, KB4497934, those feature updates are no longer installed automatically.

Christchurch mosques attacker charged with terrorism
Tarrant was arrested on March 15 for his involvement in the shooting deaths of 51 people at two mosques in Christchurch. On Tuesday, police said that they had also met survivors and victims' families to explain the fresh charges.

The result could be some rude surprise updates for people who thought they still had a few months of prep time left.

Organizations that have standardized on version 1803 can defer feature updates on business editions of Windows 10 (Pro, Enterprise, and Education) until July 10, 2019 by adjusting Windows Update for Business settings to the Semi-Annual Channel, with a deferral of 365 days. You can refer to the links at the end of the article to download the update for your version of Office. "Because the driver versions do not match the versions of the restored catalog files, the restart process stops", Microsoft adds.

Microsoft published a video on YouTube that highlights the new Windows Update functionality. It's a headache on top of whichever one might have prompted you to revert back to a restore point in the first place.

The update is also available to those who download either the update tool or media creation tool from Microsoft.
