Unsecured database exposes private data of millions of Instagram influencers

Social media marketing firm, Chtrbx initially uploaded the database as backtracked by security researcher Anurag Sen but the database included personal info from influencers who have never worked with the firm.

The database had information of many popular food bloggers, celebrities and Instagram influencers. In April, it emerged that some 48 million people had their personal details exposed after a data search firm left a huge collection of profiles unprotected in an Amazon cloud service dump. At the time of writing, the number was still growing.

The report reviewed that each record contained public data scraped from influencer Instagram accounts which included their bio, profile picture, the number of followers they have, if they're verified and their location by city and country.

Scraping information from Instagram accounts is against policies at the photo and video-centric social network owned by Facebook.

China: Trump had extravagant expectations for achieving unreasonable interests through extreme pressure
Trump took the step after the United States said China backtracked on commitments in a draft deal that had been largely agreed. The tone stood in marked contrast to Beijing's relatively muted attitude in the preceding months as trade talks dragged on.

"Shortly after we reached out, Chtrbox pulled the database offline", the report added. There were almost 50 million people affected, and the database contained even their private data, including phone numbers and email addresses. The database also had calculation of how much an account is worth paying based on the number of followers and the likes they get on their posts.

According to U.S. website TechCrunch, which first reported the incident, the details of more than 49 million users, including private contact information such as email addresses and phone numbers, were all easily accessible. The company pays celebrities and influencers to share sponsored posts.

"We're also inquiring with Chtrbox to understand where this data came from and how it became publicly available".

I find the fact that Instagram has 50 million influencers surprising and astonishing in itself.
